My name is Amanda. I am a doctor of natural medicine and work closely with vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I run HTMA tests on a variety of different people. If you want to know more specifically about HTMA tests, click here.

I had been struggling with fatigue, weight gain, and a variety of other issues for years. I ate a healthy diet and stayed away from processed foods, I was sleeping well, and I used supplements to keep my health in check. Little did I know, I was doing it all wrong.

I decided to send a small hair sample (just a few strands) of my own hair to the lab that I worked with and see how my levels were. When the test came back, I was shocked. I was consuming zinc, which lowered my copper levels drastically. This was causing severe fatigue. My magnesium levels, although supplementing over-the-counter with it, were very low and my iodine levels were not even enough to be on the chart. These simple mineral deficiency’s were causing my fatigue and weight issues.

I thought supplementing with what I thought I needed was helping my body, but without knowing what my levels were, I was doing it blindly and wrong. Minerals have ratios and some minerals will deplete others just like some heavy metals will deplete some minerals. You can also develop toxicities from simply taking a supplement that you think is helping your body. I learned that this was the foundation to health because with vitamin and mineral imbalances, this causes disease and chronic issues.

Once I was able to start supplementing with the proper nutrients and the proper amounts, everything balanced out. I began dropping weight and began feeling better. The fatigue was slow to leave but once it did and my levels were in a normal range, I felt like I could climb Mount Everest! I highly recommend this feeling!
