To make an herbal salve, you must first make an herbal infused oil. Once you have this, then you can make an herbal salve with beeswax.

Mix the warmed oil (never go above 110 degrees Fahrenheit) and beeswax together to make the salve. I typically make my salve with an oil to beeswax ratio of 3 parts oil to 1 part beeswax. The more beeswax, the harder your finished salve will be, but a more waxy salve can be beneficial in the winter when your skin really needs a barrier from the cold wind.

Once the beeswax has melted, simply pour your warm herbal salve into containers. I love using the amber glass 4 oz jars. The amber color keeps light from penetrating inside and therefore extends the life of your salve. Let it sit undisturbed until hardened.

I hope you give this easy project a try. It really is satisfying to make your own products to keep your skin healthy all year round!
