Yarrow is an amazing perennial herb. It has beautiful flowers with the most popular colors being white, orange, and yellow. It has fine, fernlike leaves that form a base mat in the spring and grow upward. It is easy to grow and sometimes can be found in the wild. It has a pleasant, woodsy scent. If you see it in the wild, you must be one hundred percent sure it is yarrow because there is a toxic look-a-like. Queen Anne’s lace and wild carrots are also look-a-likes which are not toxic, however hemlock is poisonous.

It is amazing for stopping bleeding. Did you know that soldiers, prior to WW1 who were marking off to war, would pack their pockets full of Yarrow because of how good it worked at stopping bleeding? When chewed, is good for sore teeth and gums. It also helps reduce blood pressure and fever. It fights infection internally and externally and can help with venomous bites and stings.

Do not take if pregnant.
