| A woman in her 70’s, who we will call Amelia, had a limited diet. She was down to a handful of foods she could tolerate. Every new supplement caused a reaction. She was waking up between 2 and 4 AM most nights, and she’d already been told by her medical doctor that all her diagnostic tests were good so she had nothing to worry about. She knew something was wrong so she sought help from a functional practitioner who ran an HTMA test on her. Her HTMA came back with a four lows pattern, low manganese, and an inversion ratio. Four lows are the first four main single minerals (Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, and Potassium). |

| When minerals stay on the floor no matter how well someone is eating and supplementing, something is actively pulling them down. That pattern is what sent me looking for mold… not a symptom checklist, not a hunch. Her mycotoxin panel came back with three of the five groups in the equivocal range. Equivocal counts. Mold was in the picture. Almost all the mold content out there opens at the binder – charcoal, zeolite, bentonite, chlorella, which one binds which toxin. It’s the interesting part, so it’s the part that gets taught but binders are the last thing you add, not the first. If an individual isn’t having daily bowel movements, you’ve just stirred up toxins with nowhere to go. If bile is sluggish, there’s no carrier to move them out and if her minerals are already depleted, you’re asking a body with no reserves to run a detox. So I built the foundation first: → Nutrient support – guided by the HTMA. Mycotoxins deplete A, B’s, C, D and E, plus zinc, magnesium, selenium. They wreck the microbiome that makes B vitamins in the first place. They drive oxidative stress that burns through the exact antioxidants she was already short on. The low sodium and potassium told me what it had cost her adrenals. → Bowels moving daily – non-negotiable before anything detox-related. → Liver and gallbladder – because healthy bile is what actually carries the toxins out through stool. → Histamine and immune support – Mold flares histamine, and she already had histamine intolerance. → Nervous system – Vagus nerve work — humming, gargling, myofascial, hot and cold showers. Eating in a relaxed state. Deep breaths before meals. Cheap, unglamorous, and it changed how much she could tolerate. Binders came later. Bentonite and a GI detox for the ochratoxin, once she could handle them. Where she is a year in: Minerals and ratios improved on a retest. Still low honestly, but moving. She started out with a fast 4 oxidation rate, dropped to a fast 3, and currently a fast 1. She hikes two-plus miles daily after years of not being able to even walk to her mailbox. She went out to eat and didn’t react to anything after years of a limited diet. Her energy has immensely increased and her bone density scan came back osteopenia instead of osteoporosis. In her words: “I think I am like a new person because of the work we’ve done, including the mold detoxing + mineral rebalancing.” The mold test didn’t change the order of operations. It confirmed it. HTMA told me where to start, what her body could handle, and when she was ready for the next layer — and the retests told me it was working before she felt it. That’s the job – Order of operations. |
